Controversy Over The New Stadium
As most of you already know, the New York Jets are going to be moving out of Giants stadium and into a place of their own. The NYJ's bid of $250 million was accepted in a 14-0 vote by the MTA board. The problem now is that many people think that the property was worth more then that. So three interest groups and a union went to court Monday to force the MTA to reopen bidding on there West Side rail yards with the goal of getting more money for the property. Mayor Bloomberg wants the stadium to be built because he thinks it can help New York win the bid for the 2012 Olypmics. So it would be an understatement to say that the New Jets Stadium will involve alot of politics. To find out more on this story, go to http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2040241.

i am not sure why two stadiums are needed when one seems to have worked quite well. there is very little chance of nyc getting the olympics for 2012 so i hope that is not a reason for the extra stadium!

The olympics is not the only reason, it is more of a bonus. And the Jets decided that they have been in "Giants stadium" long enough.

I'm confused. So the NYJ are getting the new stadium?? Do you think they have a chance of actually getting 2012 Olympics Chris or do you think they are just saying that as a way to make it seem more desireable and as a way to get more money?

The Jets are getting a new stadium, the issue is just wrapped up in alot of polical problems. And I really think the Olympics will be in New York in 2012.

its a great idea, now let me tell you why. people say traffic will be bad. Have you driven on the West Side highway ever! its always bad, and a football game 8days a year is nothing!. This will bring revenue into the city, and the bill is not being footed by the taxpayers. It now also give NY a shot at the 2012 olympics. Good idea, wait 15 years and you will see I'm right
